BY  # AMIRUL HAIZAD, MOHD ZUHAIRI DAN MUHAMMAD SYAKIR

Our study, entitled The Role and Impact of Block Trading is specifically to study the role and effects that occur as a result of the formation of trading blocs is. There are a number of world trading blocs that became the main focus of our study, namely the WTO, NAFTA, AFTA, EU, and APEC. This study showed indirectly trading blocs in the world to run better, and vice versa.
WTO is a body that sets global trade regulations. It sets a common standard to be followed by each of its members who comprise the majority of the countries in the world. The WTO's role is to set the regulation but it is not responsible for the regulation or regulations. APEC also is a trade bloc comprising 21 countries that is not limited to national borders or neighbouring countries. The goal is to focus on expanding trade between the member states. The EU is a block trade by countries neighbouring the countries in Europe. They jointly establish a regulation that represents countries that are members.

AFTA is a block of free trade established between ASEAN member countries. Organization AFTA aims to establish a free trade area ASEAN taxes in 15 years. NAFTA is composed of three countries in the North America, the United States, Canada and Mexico. NAFTA is intended to eliminate tariffs and non-tariff barriers in trade. The conclusion of each block trade has an important role in determining the direction of the agreement whether successful or not.

  8. I understand that once a country had formed part of any contract, either EU, AFTA, NAFTA and all that, what happened if there is a case of non compliance? tq.

    1. Do you mean breach of international contract?

    1. Asmah Che Wan, as far as i know, once a party enter into contract, they have the obligation to abide it. If any country refused to follow, any other country, with consent can expel it or that country will no longer have the benefit from the contract. If i am not mistaken.

    1. Asmah Che Wan, what you are asking actually about international law, not international trade. However both are quite related. Then in answering your question, as i know, both countries in dispute can bring the matter to ICJ or International Court of Justice.

  11. mm then...in ICJ, can any party get compensation for any breache that causing lost to them? this is also international law but just asking in case you can help. thank you.

  12. so..if the country need to compensate the other country but they refused to comply then?

    1. Asmah Che Wan, that country has the obligation to pay but if it refuses to do so, then actually nothing can be done. That is actually the weaknesses of international law itself that is why some jurists did not consider international law as law itself.

    2. However, for your information, it is a trite practice among countries to abide by the law and gladly each country does have sense of responsibility in abiding the rules and order by the ICJ. There are more cases like this for example you can see dispute of pulau batu putih between malaysia and singapore. Both countries abide by it.
