Zon Perdagangan Bebas (FTZ) bermaksud mana-mana kawasan yang ditetapkan bagi import bebas cukai untuk bahan mentah, barangan separuh siap atau barangan siap. Barangan boleh didaratkan, dikendalikan, disimpan, dipaparkan, dipasang, dikilangkan atau dikonfigurasi, serta dieksport semula tanpa campur tangan sistem birokrasi kastam. Tujuan Penubuhan Zon Perdagangan Bebas bagi pengimport dan pengeksport adalah kos pengeluaran akan menjadi lebih rendah dengan menghapuskan cukai-cukai yang berkaitan dengan perbelanjaan. Selain itu, jenis-jenis Zon Ekonomi Bebas (FEZS) di Malaysia terbahagi kepada enam bahagian. Seterusnya, Zon Perdagangan Bebas Digital (DFTZ) juga adalah inisiatif untuk memanfaatkan pertumbuhan dan eksponen pertumbuhan ekonomi internet dan aktiviti e-Dagang sempadan. Terdapat tiga komponen termasuk kedua-dua zon fizikal dan maya yang merupakan Hub eFulfilment, Hub Perkhidmatan Satelit dan Platform e-services. Akhir sekali, terdapat empat badan yang akan mendapat manfaat apabila perkongsian Malaysia dengan Alibaba melancarkan DFTZ di Malaysia iaitu Kerajaan-link syarikat, SME’s, Pencari kerja malaysia dan Pelabur hartanah.

Free Trade Zone (FTZ) means any designated area for duty-free import of raw materials, semi-finished goods or finished goods. Goods can be landed, operated, stored, displayed, installed, manufactured or configured, and re-exported without the intervention of the customs bureaucratic system. The purpose of setting up the Free Trade Zone for importers and exporters is that the cost of production will be lower by eliminating the expenses related taxes. In addition, the types of Free Economic Zones (FEZS) in Malaysia are divided into six divisions. Furthermore, the Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ) is also an initiative to leverage the growth and exponential growth of the internet economy and e-Commerce activities of the border. There are three components including both physical and virtual zones which are fulfillment Hub, Satellite Services Hub, and e-services Platform. Finally, there are four parties that will benefit when Malaysia's partnership with Alibaba launches DFTZ in Malaysia which is Government-linked companies, SME's, job seekers Malaysia and real estate investors.
